Devotional Guide for Advent Season

The advent season is a very significant time of the year since this is a time of hope and love. The start of the advent season is four Sundays before Christmas and finally on the Eve of Christmas marks the end of the advent season.  Advent is meant to be a period wherein people are preparing themselves when Christ finally comes. The etymology of the term advent is from the language Latin which is defined as coming.

From the past years, many Christians have been using advent wreath as a symbol of their hopes in the forthcoming of Christ. Another common thing that is done during the advent is the reading of verses taken from the Bible and of course when people light different candles used in the advent. This is to remind people how Jesus Christ was born and why there is a need to prepare when He finally arrive in one's own life.

No particular meaning are given for these candles that are used during the Advent except for the one found in the middle, which means birth of Christ that is why it is called Christ candle most of the time. There are other churches wherein the candles signify peace, joy, love and home. Some other places, the four attributes are characterized by the story of how the Lord Jesus Christ was born, for instance the shepherds, Joseph, Mary and the angels. For this Water From Rock advent devotional guide the focus is more thinking of Advent candles as a structure that signifies the different ways of waiting for His coming.

There are different colors used for the candles during the Advent season. For some they make use of candles that are all in white color while others prefer to light one candle which has the color pink, three other candles that could be blue or violet and of course at the center there is this white candle. In understanding the Advent activities at this website you can tell hoe significant this time is thru the use of purple candles. The pink candle means joy in the coming of Christ. The white means the people of God must rejoiced since Christ is already born. If you'd like to use blue candles that would be okay too. If you hear others say light the purple candles this can be translated as light the blue ones.

Remember advent must be a time wherein people not only light the candles but also perform devotions after all this is the season of hope and preparation in the coming of Christ. Take note that you can also perform devotions all by yourself.
